What is an embedded link?
An embedded link is a link which has been embedded into a PDF document either in the usual production process by using publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Quark Express or alternatively within Acrobat Professional.
What happens when I cannot see my links in the Zmags version?
When a PDF publication goes through the linking process either as part of the upload or auto linking process links do not show up on the Zmags version. On rare occasions problems sometimes occur when the PDF has been subject to additional treatment in for example Acrobat Distiller, also intensive optimizing of the PDF can cause the embedded text to disappear. If any crop marks are present on the PDF at time of upload, these will cause links to be removed. Try flattening your PDF before adding links to it if you suspect this may be the case.
What can I do to resolve the issue?
The solution is to optimize the original PDF less harsh (or not at all) and create a new PDF. Also the usage of our Adobe InDesign presets is the best option to produce the most compatible version possible.
