Lightbox Solutions Overview

We offer a variety of different solutions for adding light box popups to your publication. The purpose of this article is to assist you in deciding which is best suited to your needs.

Built-in Lightbox Functionality



Pros:
- Simplest solution, and the only one which does not require use of an embedded viewer page.
- Great for a single custom popup, or a series of uniform popups.

Cons:
- A separate viewer must be created to change popup style and appearance between publications, or else an embedded viewer page with additional code must be used.

Customer Support Lightbox Framework (CSLF)



Note: This approach is now considered out-of-date, and its documentation is kept here mainly to support customers already using it. If you are looking to create a new set of light boxes and have not already started with this approach, you would be better served by our directly built-in light box functionality (see above).

Pros:
- Border and close button appearance may be customized on a per-publication basis.

Cons:
- Requires use of the embedded viewer API to function.
